sunday: slept pretty well in the carpark, despite some noisy neighbours (lots of renault 5's on
another rally!), who decided to have a bit of a party outside of their cars!, it wasn't too bad, and was
all over by midnight....they left early this am!
woke to a pretty good day, not too cold, and the sun was shining : )
off today to meet up with steve at jill, at a campsite on the way to cadiz.
got packed up, internetted outside mcdonalds for a min., chatted to a french couple who had
adopted a really cute little black moroccan dog!, then onto the road.
we decided to drive along the coast to tarifa, check it out, before heading up to our arranged meeting
place, canos de meca - not a long journey, about an hour and a half.
lovely drive, along the coast, and amazing roads - moroccan roads are maybe the one thing we
aren't missing so far....
tarifa looked lovely and we had a quick walk along the very windy beach before pressing on.
arrived at the site, camping pinar san jose, to find steve, jill, and flo, already there : )
really nice to see them it was.
parked up opposite them, and then had a cup of tea and a chat, which morphed into lunch, which
morphed into more tea and finally ended at supper time with a handover of dvd's!
the campsite is lush, compared to moroccan ones, but its all a little disturbing! we can't believe
that we are back in europe really, and as nice as it is, we do miss the mayhem and madness of
morocco!
we have decided to stay here for a few days, relax, do the washing, p can do some work, spend
time with steve and jill, and get route planning for the rest of the adventure!
monday: watched the end of the dvd we had started the other night; didn't have supper as had
had snacks with steve and jill. bit of internetting (free wi-fi here) and then bed!
woke to a nice sunny day : ) pretty warm too.
got all our washing on, and up on the line to dry....plus got other chores done, water filled up,
waste emptied, loo emptied....rather nice to get ourselves sorted out after morocco.
steve and jill (and flo) have all gone for a walk....the site is right on the edge of a national park.
we are going to stay around the site this am/early pm, and then might scooter into town (if there is
one!) later, see whats about - but basically today's a sort out/chill out day : ) - and its v. nice
to have a bit of sunshine, and not have to be packing up and moving again!
tuesday: chatted to jill and steve when they got back from their walk yesterday, then quick
supper, bit of internetting and bed. much colder = blanket night!
woke to another sunny day, bit nippy (windy) but still lovely.
slow get up and go, no rush. might scooter off for an explore, didn't manage it yesterday!
trafalgar point is nearby, and there is a national park too.
have invited jill and steve for tea later on, so bit of shopping needed too....not too much planned
though, having another relaxing day! : )
wednesday: had a relaxing am yesterday; pottering. chatted to steve and jill and then popped to
the on-site supermarket (v. good!) before lunch and a scooter trip.
lovely day, bit windy, but not too cold.
first off we scootered to cabo de trafalgar, where the battle of trafalgar was fought, it was really strange
to stand on the cliff top, looking out to sea, and think that it happened right there! it was an enigmatic
place....
the beach was gorgeous, deserted apart from surfers and kite surfers, with huge waves coming in
from the atlantic which seemed to be breaking both ways!
after that scootered to vejer de la frontera, another white town, set high on a hillside - it was
on the list of the recommendations that serge and manuel gave us at new year (casa la concha).
lovely ride up through the national park, along a via verde, which reminded us of moroccan roads -
i.e. bumpy!
town was really pretty - lots of work being done in plaza de espagna and some of the smaller streets
but we got the idea! wandered around in there before a quick whizz to the old windmills and then
home to make the tea!
steve and jill came over at 6.30pm, brought real glasses and cutlery!, plus a pud. we sat in the van
all eve. talking travelling, life, the universe and everything!
then woke to another sunny day, our last here.
p gone for a run, but plan is to chill today, maybe scoot back to the beach at cabo de trafalgar - as it
was so lovely - and then get ready to move on tom.
