sunday: had a lovely walk through the lush palmeraie yesterday aft. chatted to some locals, planting
crops for the animals to eat, and then ambled back to the site to hang up the washing in the sunshine.
cooked our tea outside, but ate inside when it got chilly. very quiet and relaxed it was.
up pretty early as moving today....bit sad to go as this place is lovely.
we've got a long drive planned, 4 hours+ to a site in a place called azrou, near meknes.
said goodbye to mohammed, and got onto the road at about 9am (MT) - another good start!
nice sunny weather as we left the beautiful ziz valley and headed for the gorge. we got there
after a petrol stop, and about an hour's travelling, really gorgeous it was....we even passed through
a tiny tunnel, the only one we've been through in morocco!
after that drove past a huge reservoir and dam, before leaving the glorious sunshine and heading into
rather gloomy cloudy weather....
stopped for lunch on flat plains, after about 3 hours, and were passed by 1000's of renault 4's all brightly
painted, which we noticed were all part of a rally - the 4L 2013. most of the drivers looked like students
(young!) and they were all mostly french (apart from 3 belgians that we spotted!). they seemed to be going
past us for the rest of the journey, there were so many of them, and the highest numbered sticker smacked
onto the side of one of the cars we spotted was 2025!
there was lots of snow by the side of the road, and we seemed to pass through every kind of landscape!,
mountains, plains, woods, gorges - morocco really is a fantastic place.
at about 2pm (MT) we got to azrou, its another small site (mohammed had also recommended it) located
amongst old cherry trees - it would be very pretty, if it wasn't so cold! brrrr!
the weather for the next few days isn't good, and tonight its going to be v. windy....we're not used to this!!!
we have decided to stay one night here, and then press on tom for meknes, where there are a few things
to do....plus we are hoping for a last RV with tim and pen too....
