sunday: spent a nice aft. in taliouine, checked out the maison de safran in town, its a small museum -
assorted bit and bobs, pictures, implements etc., with a history of the process of saffron growing etc.
on big displays on the walls - all set up in a beautiful building, pretty new we think.
did pop into one of the co-op's too, but it was a pretty similar kind of thing, so didn't stay long.
after that did our shopping in the small shops/stalls in town, before scooting up to the old kasbah for
a mooch around; its in a delapidated state, but people are still living there. it must have been really
gorgeous once, as there was lots of ornate detailing visible through all the rubble....shame really.
we had parked up outside a restaurant/hotel where there was a v. friendly cat!, and on our way back,
we were mobbed by a group of children asking for pens! (first time we've been asked, so we were pretty
glad to get rid of some of the bits and bobs we had bought for them in algeciras!).
when we got back to the site, we chatted to an english couple, dick and dinah, who passed on some
useful info about the road to agdz, as they had just come from that direction.
we had ordered our dinner from the campsite kitchen, which was yummy! naughty chips with chicken
skewers, salad, bread and fruit.
then we had a quiet night; although the site had got very busy when we were out and about.
had a power cut this am, no elec. at all, so had to do our toast the old fashioned way (for us) on the
griddle!
leaving taliouine today, not going direct (taking account of what dick and dinah said about that route -
super pot-holey!), but via ouarzazate instead, its a detour, but will be worth it, and we think they sell
alcohol in their supermarkets too! (p has run out of wine....).
it will be quite a long journey for us, two and a half hours to ouarzazate and then another one and a half
to agdz....
when we left taliouine we passed through the valley where all the saffron crocus's grow, beautiful bright
green fields, against the sandy hills.
quickish stop in ouarzazate, got everything we needed, incl. red wine, and then headed on towards agdz.
arrived at the site, kasbah de la palmeraie, and found a good pitch, then had speedy lunch, as 2pm, and
got ourselves sorted....after about an hour or so tim and pen arrived in their van : ) (we had been emailing
to sort a meeting spot....).
there are nice facilities here, plus the kasbah - which you can have a look around with the owners - we
plan to do that tom.
staying here for a couple of days; enjoying the weather, spending time with tim and pen, and route
planning for the remainder of the trip....

monday: lovely sunny day today, having a pottering one!
we have booked a visit to the kasbah for tomorrow, only french tours today, so looking forward to that.
have already done a bit of route planning and we seem to be on schedule - our time in morocco is whizzing
by now and we don't want to miss anything good on our way back to tanger!
might borrow tim and pen's bikes for a bit later on and cycle into town to have a look around....we need a
few bits and pieces (as usual!).
otherwise, nada! its nice to just relax after three days of moving each am....
