saturday: lovely and quiet at the campsite, only crickets chirping away last night, and this am,
nothing!
shame to leave really, as its a nice place, but moving on today, to taliouine - saffron growing country.
sadly we completely missed the turn off to taroudant on our way out of el guerdane, so didn't
manage a caleche ride around the ramparts....or a little look around....
not a long journey today, sat nav said about 2 hours (which was spot on!). it was a lovely drive
through the valley and then up into the mountains; pretty desert like as very little vegetation, only the
hardy old argan trees and lots of sheep and goats!
then into another valley where taliouine is situated. its a very pretty place, a 'straggling' village lonely
planet called it, nestled between the bare red hills. the buildings are all muted reds and ochre's, with
the white minaret's of the mosques standing out against the landscape.
we found the site, camping toubkal, very easily, parked up and got ourselves organised, lunch etc.
and we have the most fantastic view from the van : )
scooter's off as we need lots of shopping, and we are hoping to visit one or two of the saffron co-
operatives as well; get the low down on how its grown, harvested etc.
only a one night stay here planned, but as the campsite is so lovely, really well laid out, nice shop,
cafe and hamman, and has a nice relaxed vibe (not too busy), we may stay longer!
the weather is gorgeous, still v. warm, so we have got the washing on (another service wash), and are
just waiting to get that out on the rack to dry, so we can get going on the scoot for an explore....
