friday: up early today, as leaving tafraout....
packed up most things last night, after dinner, so pretty organised this am!
quick brekkie as no bread : ( (reception shop not open yet!). said goodbye to tim and pen,
but hoping to meet up with them in a few days time en route.
fantastic drive through the other side of the ameln valley, lots of almond groves and small
berber villages, before getting to some more serious winding roads as we edged out of the
anti atlas mountains and headed for the atlas range!
stopped a few times for pics, and also to let the big moroccan trucks, that thunder along at a
cracking speed, pass by.
it was a beautiful journey, and eventually we came out onto the flat plains, and the road to
taroudant; which had been dug up and was a very bumpy dirt track for the last 2km or so!
sat nav journey time was two and a half hours, but we made the campsite at el guerdane in
four!
its a lovely spot, a small organic farm site - the french owner said he was full last night, so we
were rather lucky to arrive today and bag a spot.
nothing planned for here, so just relaxing this aft. in the warm sunshine. moving again tom,
to taliouine (where they grow and sell saffron), but will drive through taroudant, nick-named
'little marrakech', and if time allows, have a wander around the 7km ramparts, as they are
supposed to be one of the best preserved pise walls in the country....
