point break....

saturday: leaving lovely ounara, reluctantly, today; so up early (alarm set) – brekkie, pack up, pay
up and off to find a shop!
no marjane’s until agadir, so our first time in a more moroccan supermarket, asawak at essaouira –
v. good.
stocked up with everything we needed, and straight back on the road, headed to imsouane, a surfing
village, about an hour and a half away, and a campsite run by a brit and a belgian (highly rec. by our
book, and by derek and tish too!).
lovely drive through gorgeous green countryside, passed usual small towns, loaded up donkeys and
lots of argan oil sellers camped up on the side of the road – some stand up and wave bottles as you
pass by, others can’t be bothered and sit tight! lots of smiling and waving though : )
even followed a lorry with a couple of bulls right on top – we can’t imagine how he got them up there,
or how he’ll get them down! – he was pulled over by the police at one of the regular check-points….
eventually we found ourselves on the the stunning, if not a little nerve-wracking, road to the campsite,
single track hugging the steep cliff side, but with gorgeous views of the atlantic rolling in. (luckily for
us no motorhomes coming the other way!).
campsite is smallish and not too busy so we’ve got a good spot near to the rather nice shower/loo
block. there is also a little ‘beach bar’ and the whole place has a very caribbean feel to it….
had a walk to the tiny town, all quiet today as the prophet's birthday (public hol. we think)
yesterday, so everything shut.
chilled out place, dominated by surf shops and associated little ‘cool’ cafes and boutiques in
shacks!
there were a few mad souls out on the waves, brrrrr, but although v. windy, waves not that big….
prob. stay one night here, as not much to do, and wind a bit of an issue for cooking etc. but will see
how we feel in the am.
its v. hot though – about 25 deg. today apparently – best weather so far in morocco (sorry!).
