monday: woke up to a rain free day, but that quickly changed!
on our way back from the internet cafe yesterday eve. we talked to some other english motorhomers
we'd met briefly at moulay bousselham and mohammedia, who are kind of following us down the coast;
charlie and yvonne and alistair and dylan, and another big gaggle of english vans who we've also
seen on the road, we think everyone is being pushed south by the terrible weather - so we are all
bumping into each other as we creep downwards towards the sun!
we are leaving el jadida today - which is just as well - as the forecast for the next few days is shocking!
we feel we were v. lucky to get the chance to walk around the old city and the town yesterday - when the
sun actually shone for a few hours!
not much to do this am packing wise so onto the road early, about 9am - moroccan time. its a longish
drive today, 2 hours+ to safi.
the sat nav took us inland - for the fastest route - which was a shame, so after about an hour or so, we
decided to try to get back onto the coast road for the last bit of the journey.
we went down the bumpiest side road ever for what seemed like ages, but it was worth it - we got some
stunning views of the long empty beaches and the crashing waves of the atlantic. it was a pity about the
weather - but still worth the detour!
made it to safi, where there are lots of pottery factories, by about 2.00pm - moroccan time.
found the site, camping intl., which is a pretty good one, nice facilities, i.e. 'throne' loos, and not too busy
either. most people miss safi as its mainly an industrial town - but we thought we'd break the journey
from el jadida to essaouira and maybe check out the potteries while we are here....
we had rain all the way and its still raining here, but not so hard, and the sun is trying to come out!
there are wild peacocks roaming around which is lovely, and we have 3g internet again - which
makes us happy! (sado's that we are!).
p is working this aft - pretty much all you can do on a rainy day! - and we will see how we feel tom about
staying or going.
