saturday: had a peaceful night at the aire....surprising as quite near to a main road, and so big.
in fact, we really liked it in the end and it was a shame to leave, but onwards and upwards....
sadly never had the chance to get into montpellier either, the weather still not great for a 20
min. + scoot....
remembered it was sat, so supermarket stop for a few bits to tide us over 'til monday....
headed for free aire, need a few more of those!, at villeneuve les beziers. drove straight through
montpellier, so got a tiny glimpse of it (better than nothing) and then on towards the aire,
about an hour and a half away.....
lovely countryside, few spots of rain every now and then, and lots of fast moving black clouds
above....
got to the aire to find it rather wet and muddy, and just a track beside a canal, there were a
couple of other vans there too, a dutch one and a small french one....so we parked up and
had lunch to see if it was ok, but as rain is forecast, and there were already some pretty big
puddles around, decided to move on....
pity really as quite a nice location, and as we drove out, a nice little town....
quick look in the book, and then headed for another free aire at valras plage....only 20 mins. away.
arrived there to find lots of vans in an empty car park near to the sea....no services at all, but we
are fully loaded with water and elec : )
valras plage is definately a summer town, a campsite every 100 yards, lots of bars and restaurants,
but everything looks pretty shut now as season over....
found a good spot, chocked up etc. then got the scoot off and attempted the 9 min. ride to local
mcdonalds to find it being refurbished! (first time that's happened!) and the next nearest one another
11 mins. on....the trip was sooooo windy and cold we decided to go back to the van and warm up
with a cup of tea (p) and a cuppasoup (c).
planning to stay here a couple of nights before heading to narbonne to get some necessary van
repairs sorted out (fingers crossed).
might scoot to beziers if the weather gets better....but if not it will be a couple of relaxed days by
the sea instead! : )

sunday: slept well, all bundled up under our blankets! (a two blanket night!!)....had a lie in too...
what a treat ('til 10am!! - unheard of!, although as the clocks also went back here - we only worked
that out at the end of the day - we actually got up at 9am!, so a little lie in - not a big one!!).
....cloudy when we got up, but sun trying very hard to come out....p went to buy bread then we
pottered for the rest of the am....
after that had lunch and decided to get the bus to beziers, much too windy for the scoot....
waited at the stop, we think it was the right one!, for over an hour, and no buses came : ( we got cold
instead....so reluctantly gave up and walked back into the town centre; had a warming drink and a crepe
watching the world go by...
then a windy look around the small marina....before quickish walk back to the van for tea....we've got
the heating on for a bit too....it's not much fun this cold weather!! ha ha
heading for narbonne tomorrow, get the leak looked at hopefully, and get bits and bobs sorted for our
entry into spain and beyond!
