wednesday: had decided to move aire this am, mainly to get elec, but also to get a little closer to
avignon, for our second look around.
did some washing (very cheap) at the campsite, packed up and off....its only 15 mins.
away.
brand new aire, not in any of the books! virgin territory! one other van, german, was just
leaving as we arrived. there is a lovely formal herb garden in front of the aire, 4 spaces, elec
and water for a token (bought in local shops for 3 euros).
got sorted out, had some lunch then off to avignon....not so windy, or cold - so much nicer
journey.
c's compter had died (battery not charging) in the am : ( RIP, so we urgently needed an apple
shop - found one via google so headed for that - really lovely man, david, sorted us out, and
about half an hour later the computer was resurrected! : )
after that was done just walked around inside the walled city for the rest of the aft. bought some
calissons, local provence delicacy, stopped for a drink in a little square next to a rather nice 5 star
hotel, had a quick peek inside, before slow walk back to where we started - via an amazing
patisserie - bought a choccie and a violet eclair for pudd - and then back on the scoot to the aire.
strangely we are now surrounded by lots of young french boys and their motors, lots of coming and
going, lots of noise and chat!
funny as we thought this aire would be very quiet as the town is small, and sleepy!....just shows, you
never can tell! - we'll have to write to the mairie about it!! ha ha
as it got later and later, and 'the boys' weren't moving, plus more and more seemed to be joining them,
we decided to move back to the aire at sarrians.
it was a bit of a phaf, but worth it in the end; we felt much safer (not physical safety, van safety - lots
of hand-brake turn tracks in the gravel we hadn't noticed when we first arrived!!) and it was nice and quiet
too - no spaces in the actual aire, so parked in the car park, but as we'd seen other vans doing the same
thing the night before, we didn't feel too bad about it, we even bought some cheap petrol on the way there,
as we were out and about! : )
sadly it's our last night in this area, we've loved it, as we are heading up towards montelimar tomorrow -
we never did make it back to that synagogue at carpentras either - but we're looking forward to tasting some
real nougat! : )
